Blessings Beyond Count!

Because of Who God is, His human creatures are never devoid of blessings in their daily lives. But because of His special grace to us, His redeemed, we have even more unique favors which carry us on in this life and into the life to come.

God, however, never intended that the private or corporate blessings He grants should be selfishly enjoyed. He offers us those blessings that we, in turn, should be a blessing as well!

Some blessings we commonly enjoy with one another. But there are those unique blessings which we alone experience. May we never fail to recognize them, acknowledge their validity, and render praise and thanksgiving to Him Who lavishes them on us! This is imperative because God may withhold additional gifts from us whenever we show little appreciation for what He already dispenses, whether small or great!

In daily life, if you look for distresses, you shall surely find them. That’s why you must become more attentive to divine manifestations of His grace in your life. And grace is always an undeserved favor from the One from Whom all blessings flow. This God remains extravagant in what He provides for you, in spite of trials and tribulations which inevitably also accompany you throughout your pilgrimage! As Humphrey B. Neill wisely suggested, “we need to dwarf our troubles and magnify our blessings.”

The fact that God has blessed you so abundantly yesterday is no reason for you to expect no blessings today. A blessed person never stays unblessed by God unless that individual intentionally forfeits what God may be granting.

Indeed,no day goes by in the life of a child of God in which the heavenly father is not ready, willing, and most eager to open the very windows of heaven with blessings one is not able to contain! But we, ourselves, also have to be eligible, ready, expectant, and fully open to receive those blessings, desirous also to share the same with others.

Any machinery to operate has to be properly connected to its source of power. Likewise, we must always be in tune with our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer - the only true and living God, Who loves us with an everlasting love!

As you daily count your blessings, be sure to determine which one you are prepared to share with others that day. It may be via a letter, a phone call, a visit, a simple gift, an offer of some kind, a personal word of encouragement. You are blessed to be a blessing, and that is not as hard as you may think!

Here is a safe, positive formula I’ve adopted for myself, and gladly suggest to you as well. It’s not a seasonal guide, but an outline for everyday living: Count your blessings; Share your blessings; Expect more blessings! Its author is none other than “the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
