Live Each New Day With Joy!
One of the greatest curses affecting contemporary society, is boredom. In spite of new technologies intended to simplify life, and gadgets which can literally bring the entire world to us by a touch from our fingertips, people still complain about being bored.
Even youth, from the financial upper crust of society, often go into shoplifting and committing serious crimes , “just for the thrill of it” as several of them have personally testified.
Sadly, there are also Christians who do not know what to do meaningfully with their free moments. They will fulfill their weekly “obligations” of earning a living, going to church, and socializing with family, friends, and neighbors. But there is exactly where their excitement also ends, even if they may tune in to some Christian broadcasting, occasionally read their Bible or some other Christian literature throughout the week, and engage in a few other random activities.
Yet, God intends for all His redeemed that each new day be lived with a sense of excitement and the experience of true joy. This is to be so, both because He is Sovereign over the universe, and also because of all that He abundantly freely offers to His children. The joy of the Lord is their strength, and the gifts of the Lord are already in their possession!
Whether living singly or in families, each child of God should ascertain in advance how He desires for anyone to plan each day, with sufficient time for personal growth and for meaningful service toward others. It is only when one thinks of others more than one’s self that varied opportunities will emerge to impact one’s neighbor positively, even through relatively simple acts of kindness.
If you truly desire to make each new day meaningfully busy and exciting, start thinking of others and of what you can do for them. It may be sending a letter or a note to cheer someone up, offering to take an elderly person to an appointment, making some phone calls to shut-ins, or those in convalescence, being an ever-present friend to many.
Most of all, using every opportunity to share the good news that in Jesus Christ alone is there eternal life for anyone who truly believes, and would receive His free gift.
If Jesus went to the cross for the sake of the human race, we can so easily go anywhere with His help and for His glory, in order to accomplish His purposes in the world and unwrap His gifts to benefit many others!
God daily surrounds us with opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of many persons, and ultimately there is no greater joy than to contribute to mending lives and providing healing to countless who need it.
