The Safe Path God Intends for you to Follow

Human living has been often compared to a varied assortment of human actions and accomplishments. It may be viewed as erecting a building, illustrated as traveling, or even understood as a composition such as a musical score, besides other major activities.

Be what it may, life is indeed a journey throughout the years one is granted on earth. Each new day one is supposed to be a bit farther ahead than the day before, on account of one’s positive actions and decisive steps regarding all that life entails.

In life’s journey, the only safe way for anyone, is to remain on the road which leads to one’s destination. If necessary detours appear, eventually they will lead one back to the path where that individual needs remain traversing.

A problem which so often occurs, however, is that many side entrances also exist which, if taken, will retard one’s progress, or even lead one completely astray, very far from where one needs to be in order to proceed in the safe route.

Such side entrances may come in the form of commitments not kept, serious issues disregarded, current tasks neglected, other engagements ignored. Yet, one needs to pay careful attention to great as well as small matters if the basic issues of life are to converge and contribute to one’s wellbeing, and timely arrival at the desired harbor.

Human life can be diminished either by some extras one does, which should have been avoided, or by whatever one refrains from performing, which otherwise would have brought concrete, salutary benefits to self and to others.

The only safe forward move may occur when you are looking ahead. If your sight is down, you won’t know how to circumvent sudden obstacles and dangers you may encounter; if you glance around, you will become too distracted, thus affecting the necessary progress in the journey.

Not to be forgotten also, is that you can paint in your mind an exact picture of where you are moving, you may devise the best plans for any enterprise, you may prepare the clearest blueprints for achieving your goals; but unless you consult other people along the way, you may never bring in the desired results, nor reach the anticipated destination. God surrounds us with His human agents to keep us from embarking in the wrong vehicle, or entering an undesirable path. Thus, we must consult with them! Avoid what Eugene Peterson, in his rendering of Proverbs 2:15, in “The Message,” refers as “traveling paths that go nowhere, wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends.”

Remember that God often leads His own into places, or circumstances, where no one else will go nor experience. Yet, He Himself will always be there as well. He was with His servant Job during his period of destitution and complete deprivation; He was at the side of three Hebrew young men as they were thrown into a fiery furnace; He also attended to Paul’s affliction due to an intrusive “thorn” in his flesh. And He is with His own, even as they pass “through the valley of the shadow of death;” He is our Emmanuel - “God with us,” - One Who will never leave us nor forsake us. Nevertheless, He will be present to us only to the extent we fully rely on Him, and diligently seek His aid!

Very good message. On this journey of life you have spoke so many truths that we tend to forget. It’s so easy to head off on that “rabbit trail” because we believe that is the right path but it’s not! We as simple human beings forget that He is in charge and if we are not plugged into God we will not be making the right choices.
