Your paragraph:

"Thus, moral excellence is not automatic for anyone. There needs to be a continual striving towards it. People are born corrupt, but with the possibility ever present and the resources readily available for anyone to move toward moral rectitude."

Really has to be connected with the subsequent realization you provide:

"The road to moral excellence must begin with personal choices. Through the help of God (and never without it) people may seek and find the paths which lead in that direction."

And the phrase, "Through the help of God (and never without it)..." deserves underlining.

Human efforts alone will never lead to moral excellence - it just isn't in our DNA.

Thanks for the candid reminder of who we are, the challenges we face and the resources of Christ alone.

Blessings!

I enjoyed your post. It is difficult to look at the bankruptcy of our culture, but it reminds me how I need to be thankful everyday for God's grace in my life.
